Description
Teddy Terror is a 2D Horror Survival game about a Little boy and his Teddybear trapped in a Nightmare. Unique about the game is that the player is a little boy with limited strenght and he has to use his environment wisely in order to eliminate the monsters. There is a passive aggresive approach to clear every level. Whether it's luring monsters into deadly traps, activating futuristic weaponry or finding items and awesome toys that can aid you in vanquishing the nightmarish monstrosity. Teddy Terror has a passive-aggresive gameplay with a learning/mastering curve. There are also several roguelike elements within the game. The levels, items, monsters and bosses are all randomized. With perma-death every run will feel a bit different. At the moment Teddy Terror is in development and press can request a Preview Demo of the game. Our development team is working hard on creating an everlasting enjoyable experience. You can support us on Kickstarter and vote for us on Steam Greenlight!
History
Early historyTeddy Terror started out as an entry to the gamejam IndiesvsPewDiePie( 21 Nov. 2014). Motivated by the gamejam Gianni Knight had an idea of a roguelike horror survival game, where the player has to use his environment instead of relying on his own strenght(which he doesn't have). The player would have to start with as little as possible and needs to use the environment within the game in order to defeat monsters and finish the level.
After thatThis in mind, Gianni started to ask the sound designers at RunicSounds to collaborate with him in the gamejam. The two sound designers Nick van Kleef and Ruben Bergshoeff were eager to work on the gamejam. The gamejam indiesvsPewDiePie started at 21 November and ended at 23 November( 72 hr gamejam). During that time Gianni started with an idea of a little boy who fell asleep and was taken away to a world of nightmare. After that, he started by creating visuals for the game and setting up a basic gameplay layout( the player could move, and monsters would chase him) The setting had to be creepy and the contrast between the world of the little boy and the nightmare to be very noticeable. Therefore he came up with ideas inspired by japanese horrors, like eyeballs with shadow arms. "The game MUST have 'gore' in it, just to spicen up the contrast between the little boy and his nightmare" claimed Gianni. Nuclear Throne formed a solid inspiration for the character and in that way a shooter element was added to the gameplay. With a workflow of switching between creating visuals, coding and skyping with RunicSounds for the audio Teddy Terror came to life and we uploaded the game a half hour before the deadline. However we didn't manage to add the roguelike(like random level generation) and upgrade system in the Gamejam build, as we had little time left for the further development. But we are planning to improve Teddy Terror and will implement this system in the future of the game.
